Phasen is a surprising album in its abrupt construction.
Separated by sudden transitions, the tracks generally evoke a light sadness, just enough to create a scattered fog in our field of hearing. This feeling is supported by the aerial sound processing applied to this release.
Sensitive and subtle, skimming the experimental and noise fields from strong ambient roots, René Margraff created a work alike a morning haze : a mysterious ghost hiding treasures of beauty if you pay enough attention. Dotflac
The aptly-named Hauntings write songs that are sinister and moody—the seconds in a horror film right before the jump scare. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 3, 2023
This album is far beyond music, as it is almost only made from field recordings picked up in Montreal.
Distant cruising cars, murmur of an ubiquitous crowd, humming subways, sound of children or various static noises, Tim Westcott processed and mixed these sounds to create a parallel living universe from real sounds. A hidden world behind our primary vision, made aerial and imperceptible thanks to the reverberation of the sound.
A release hard to tame, but definitely rewarding in the end. Dotflac
